Dr. Merrill Ken Galera
Dr. Galera is an Illinois-licensed Physician and Surgeon, and a scientific researcher.
Dr. Galera’s special interests are Holistic Medicine and Energy Medicine. His passion is evaluating and applying alternative approaches to healing that can bring you long-lasting health.
His mentors include such notables as Dr. Andrew Weil, Dr. Tieraona Low Dog, Dr. Luis Mehl-Madrona, Dr. Alex Loyd, Dr. Steve Hinkey, and Dr. Doug Lehrer.
Initially, Dr. Galera’s primary medical interest was to be Neurological Surgery, when he mentored with some of the nation’s most prestigious programs:
- University of Virginia (under John Jane, M.D., Ph.D.)
- Medical College of Wisconsin (under Tom Gennarelli, M.D.)
- Loma Linda University (under Austin Colohan, M.D.)
But ultimately, he decided to pursue preventing disease instead of a surgical approach… which led to his residency in Family Medicine at Hinsdale Hospital in suburban Chicago.
As an undergraduate, he researched cholesterol at the University of Chicago Lipid Laboratory under Godfrey Getz, M.D., Ph.D.
